3. Subject Matter

These terms set out the conditions under which Birikko is made available to you, the mutual rights and obligations of the parties, the terms of the paid subscription, and the rules governing termination of the service.

How your personal data is processed is not governed by these terms but by our Privacy Policy and KVKK Disclosure Notice, which form an integral part of this agreement.

4. Scope and Nature of the Service

4.1 What Birikko does

Birikko is a recording and analysis tool that lets households track income and expenses together. Its main functions are:

  • Recording, categorising, and tagging income and expense transactions
  • Entering transactions in multiple currencies, with the exchange rate frozen at the time of entry
  • Category-based budget limits and overrun alerts
  • Savings goals and progress tracking
  • Tracking recurring payments and subscriptions
  • Periodic insights generated automatically from recorded data
  • Sharing a ledger with several users under role-based permissions

4.2 What Birikko does not do — important

The following are essential elements of this agreement:

  • Birikko is not a bank, payment institution, or electronic money institution. It does not transfer, collect, process, or hold funds.
  • Birikko does not connect to your bank accounts. All data is entered manually by you or by other members of your ledger. Balances shown in the App reflect only the data entered and may not match your actual bank balances.
  • Birikko does not provide investment, tax, legal, or financial advice. The analyses, insights, and suggestions shown in the App are for informational purposes only and do not constitute investment advice or personalised financial advice.
  • Birikko is not an accounting or official record-keeping tool. Data in the App does not constitute evidence for official declarations, statutory bookkeeping, or tax obligations.

You are solely responsible for the financial decisions you make.

4.3 Automated analysis and insights

The App may process your recorded data by automated means to produce insights about your spending patterns (for example, bringing a recurring subscription to your attention). These insights:

  • Are based solely on data entered into the App and are only as accurate as that data;
  • Are generated automatically and may contain errors or omissions;
  • Are not advice or a commitment — the final decision is always yours.

No guarantee is given as to the accuracy, scope, or frequency of insights. A sufficient volume of data must accumulate in the App before meaningful insights can be produced.

5. Accounts and Access

5.1 Age requirement

Birikko is intended for individuals aged 18 or over. If you are under 18, you may not use the App. If an account is found to belong to a person under 18, it will be closed and its data deleted.

5.2 Authentication

Account creation and sign-in take place through your Google or Apple account. Birikko neither sees nor stores the passwords for those accounts. You are responsible for the security of your linked account.

5.3 Account security

  • You are responsible for all activity carried out through your account.
  • If you become aware of unauthorised use of your account, you must notify us immediately at support@slyteknoloji.com.
  • You may not transfer, sell, or rent your account.
  • You may only create an account in your own name; accounts may not be created using false identities or another person's information.

6. Shared Ledgers and Roles

6.1 The nature of sharing

The defining feature of Birikko is that a ledger can be shared with more than one person. When you join a ledger, your financial data in that ledger becomes visible to the other members — to the extent their roles allow.

You must clearly understand and accept this: the income, expense, and goal information you keep in a ledger belongs to you, but from the moment the ledger is shared it is also shared with the other members. Do not enter data into a shared ledger that you do not wish to share.

6.2 Roles and permissions

RoleSummary of permissions
OwnerFull control of the ledger. Can invite and remove members, delete the ledger, transfer ownership, and purchase a subscription.
AdminManages transactions, budgets, goals, and categories; can invite members. Cannot delete the ledger or transfer ownership.
MemberCan view and edit their own transactions and the ledger's shared data.
ViewerView-only access. Cannot add, edit, or delete data.

The scope of these roles may change as the product evolves; the current scope is shown within the App.

6.3 Responsibility of the inviting member

If you invite someone into your ledger, you represent that:

  • You understand and accept that they will see the data in that ledger;
  • You have obtained any necessary permissions in respect of data you enter that may relate to third parties;
  • You will share the invitation code only with people you genuinely intend to authorise.

The Company is not responsible for consequences arising from an invitation code falling into the hands of third parties.

6.4 Leaving a ledger and removing members

When you leave a ledger, or are removed from it, your access to that ledger's data ends. Records you previously created in the ledger may remain there in order to preserve the integrity of the ledger's financial history. How those records are linked to you is explained in the Privacy Policy.

If a Ledger Owner closes their account, the fate of the ledger — transfer or deletion — is determined by the options offered within the App.

7. Paid Subscription

7.1 Freemium model

Birikko's core functionality is free. Certain advanced features require a Premium subscription. There is no time-limited free trial; the free version may be used indefinitely.

7.2 Subscriptions are per ledger, not per user

A Premium subscription is attached to a ledger, not to an individual user. If one person in a ledger purchases a subscription, all members of that ledger gain access to Premium features. The person who pays is the sole party liable for the subscription; no payment obligation arises for other members.

If you belong to more than one ledger, a Premium subscription in one ledger does not extend to your other ledgers.

7.3 Pricing and payment

  • Current subscription plans and prices are shown in the App and on the relevant App Store listing.
  • Payments are taken directly through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. The Company does not access or store your credit or debit card details.
  • Payment processing, refunds, and invoicing are governed by the terms of the relevant App Store.
  • Prices are shown inclusive of VAT. Changes in tax rates may be reflected in prices.

7.4 Automatic renewal

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless cancelled.

  • Renewal occurs unless the subscription is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • Payment is charged to your linked account within the 24 hours preceding the end of the current period.
  • You may cancel at any time through your App Store account settings on your device. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period; Premium access continues until then.
  • Note that deleting your account within the App does not cancel your subscription — cancellation must be carried out through the App Store.

7.5 Price changes

The Company reserves the right to change subscription prices. Price increases are announced to existing subscribers a reasonable time before they take effect, by in-app notification or e-mail. The new price applies from the first renewal after the announcement. If you do not accept the new price, you may cancel before your renewal date.

7.6 Right of withdrawal and refunds

Birikko is digital content and services, delivered and made available for use immediately upon purchase.

  • Under Turkish Consumer Protection Law no. 6502 and the Distance Contracts Regulation, the right of withdrawal does not apply to contracts for intangible goods delivered instantly in electronic form. You are informed of and confirm this at the point of purchase.
  • Refund requests may nonetheless be submitted directly to Apple or Google under the relevant App Store's own refund policy. The refund decision rests with that store; the Company has no direct authority over the process.
  • Your other rights under consumer protection legislation are reserved.

7.7 End of subscription

When a subscription ends, access to Premium features stops, but your data is not deleted. You may be unable to view content that falls outside the scope of the free version; access is restored if the subscription is resumed.

If a subscription is suspended because of a payment problem (failed payment, store hold, etc.), you will be informed in the App and given a reasonable period to resolve it.

8. Your Obligations

In using the App you agree that you will:

  1. Comply with applicable law, public morals, and the rules of good faith;
  2. Provide accurate and current information;
  3. Not infringe the rights of others;
  4. Not act in ways that threaten the security of the App.

The following are expressly prohibited:

  • Attempting to access the source code, reverse-engineer, copy, or create derivative works from the App
  • Accessing the Service through automated tools (bots, scrapers) or generating abnormal load
  • Attempting to circumvent security measures, access data without authorisation, or gain entry to other users' ledgers
  • Using the Service to process personal data of third parties without the right to do so
  • Using the App to record or conceal unlawful activity
  • Circumventing the limits of the free version by technical means, or bypassing subscription verification

If you breach these obligations, the Company may suspend your account or terminate this agreement.

9. Intellectual Property

9.1 The Company's rights

All intellectual property rights in the Birikko name, logo, interface design, source code, text, imagery, data model, and all components belong to the Company. These terms grant you only a non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable right to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes. No other rights are transferred.

9.2 User Content

The data you enter into the App belongs to you. The Company claims no ownership over it.

In order to provide the Service — to store your data, display it to the other members of your ledger, back it up, calculate with it, and analyse it — you grant us a limited right to process it. This right is used solely to provide the Service and ends, within the framework set out in the Privacy Policy, when you delete your account.

The Company may produce aggregated and anonymised statistics to improve the Service. Such data cannot be linked back to you.

10. Availability and Changes to the Service

  • The Company makes reasonable efforts to provide the Service without interruption or error, but uninterrupted availability is not guaranteed. Temporary interruptions may occur due to maintenance, updates, infrastructure provider issues, or force majeure.
  • Planned maintenance is announced in advance where possible.
  • The Company reserves the right to develop, modify, or discontinue features. Changes that materially affect the user experience are announced in advance.
  • The scope of the free version may change over time. A feature currently in Premium may move to the free version or vice versa; in that case the rights of existing subscribers are preserved for the period they have paid for.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

  • The Service is provided "as is." No express or implied warranty is given as to fitness for a particular purpose, uninterrupted operation, or freedom from error.
  • The Company is not liable for losses arising from financial decisions taken in reliance on the data, calculations, exchange rates, or insights displayed in the App.
  • The Company is not liable for indirect damages, loss of profit, loss of business, loss of data, or reputational harm.
  • The Company's total liability for direct damages is in all cases limited to the total amount paid by the User for subscriptions in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. Where no payment has been made, no liability arises.
  • These limitations do not cover liability arising from the Company's wilful misconduct or gross negligence, nor liabilities under consumer protection law that cannot be limited.

The Company is not responsible for outages or conduct of third-party services (App Stores, authentication providers, payment infrastructure, cloud providers).

12. Personal Data

Your personal data is processed in accordance with Turkish Personal Data Protection Law no. 6698 (KVKK) and related legislation. For details of what data is processed and why, who it is shared with, retention periods, and your rights under KVKK, please see:

These documents form an integral part of this agreement.

13. Closing Your Account

13.1 By you

You may close your account at any time from the settings section of the App or at https://birikko.com/en/delete-account.

Your deletion request is processed once verified. The scope and timing of deletion are explained in the Privacy Policy. As noted in §6.4, certain records in shared ledgers may remain in order to preserve other members' history.

Deleting your account does not automatically cancel an active subscription. You must cancel separately through the App Store.

13.2 By the Company

The Company may suspend your account or terminate this agreement where:

  • These terms are materially breached;
  • The App is used unlawfully or in a way that infringes third-party rights;
  • Your conduct threatens the security or operation of the system;
  • The Service is discontinued entirely.

Where the nature of the breach allows, the Company will warn you before terminating and allow a reasonable period to remedy it. If the Service is discontinued entirely, users will be notified at least 30 days in advance, given a reasonable period to export their data, and refund processes for paid but unused subscription periods will be initiated through the relevant store.

14. Additional Terms for the Apple App Store

If you obtained the App through the Apple App Store, the following also applies:

  1. This agreement is between you and the Company only; Apple is not a party to it.
  2. The Company, not Apple, is solely responsible for the App.
  3. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App.
  4. In the event the App fails to conform to any warranty, you may notify Apple, who will refund the purchase price; beyond that, Apple has no warranty obligation.
  5. The Company is responsible for addressing user claims, product liability claims, and intellectual property infringement claims.
  6. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. embargo and are not listed on any U.S. prohibited-party list.
  7. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this agreement and have the right to enforce it against you.

15. Changes to These Terms

The Company may amend these terms. Amendments will be:

  • Published at https://birikko.com/en/terms-of-service;
  • Reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of the document;
  • For material changes (pricing, liability, data use), announced at least 15 days before taking effect, by in-app notification or e-mail.

Continuing to use the App after such an announcement means you accept the changes. If you do not accept them, you may close your account.

16. Force Majeure

Natural disasters, war, terrorism, epidemics, cyberattacks, general power or internet infrastructure failures, cloud provider outages, regulatory changes, and similar events beyond the parties' control constitute force majeure. Failure to perform obligations during such events does not constitute a breach.

17. Assignment

You may not assign your rights or obligations under this agreement without the Company's written consent. The Company may assign this agreement in the event of a merger, demerger, acquisition, or transfer of business, in which case you will be notified in advance.

18. Notices

Notices from the Company will be sent to the e-mail address linked to your account or delivered as an in-app notification. Notices from you to the Company should be sent to support@slyteknoloji.com.

Keeping your e-mail address up to date is your responsibility.

19. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

  • This agreement is governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye.
  • Disputes will first be addressed amicably. You may send any request or complaint to support@slyteknoloji.com.
  • Users who qualify as consumers may apply to the Consumer Arbitration Committees or Consumer Courts, according to the monetary thresholds set under Law no. 6502.
  • For users who do not qualify as consumers, the Courts and Enforcement Offices of the Company's registered seat have jurisdiction.

20. Miscellaneous

  • Severability: If any provision of this agreement is held invalid, the remaining provisions continue in force.
  • Waiver: The Company's failure to exercise a right does not constitute a waiver of that right.
  • Entire agreement: These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, the KVKK Disclosure Notice, and the Cookie Policy, constitute the entire agreement between the parties.
  • Language: This English text is provided for information purposes. In the event of any conflict between the Turkish and English versions, the Turkish text prevails.

21. Entry into Force

This agreement is concluded and takes effect electronically when you download the App, create an account, or begin using the Service. You confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted these terms in full.
